The Silence Rule — Mohit’s 3-Part Framework
Part 1 — Answer Only What Was Asked
- Identify the exact question.
- Write it down mentally before you open your mouth.
- Give a one-sentence answer first.
- Full stop.
- Then wait 3 full seconds before adding anything.
- If they need more, they’ll ask.
- That question is a buying signal — welcome it.
Part 2 — Silence as Pressure (Not Awkwardness)
- Silence in a sales conversation is not awkward — it’s pressure.
- And that pressure lives on their side.
- When you rush to fill silence, you take the pressure back onto yourself.
- After you answer, hold eye contact and breathe.
- Let the quiet sit.
- The next person to speak after silence usually concedes ground.
- Make sure it’s them, not you.
Part 3 — Signs You’re Over-Explaining (Stop Immediately)
- You’ve used the word “basically” twice in one answer.
- You’re explaining a benefit they didn’t ask about.
- You’re repeating something you already said.
- You’re watching their face for approval while you’re still talking.
